1. How can we determine the current date?

1.1 The phrase “What’s the date today?” is used to inquire about the date, which means “今天是几号?”. Common responses include “It’s/Today is + 日期.”
1.2 In English, the format for expressing dates typically follows the order of month, day, and year.
1.3 The day of the month can be represented using Arabic numerals or ordinal numbers, and it is customary to read the ordinal numbers.
2. On this particular day, we will be hosting a class party.
在这一天,我们举办一个班级聚会。
2.1 The preposition “on” is used to indicate a specific day.
2.2 “Have a class party” means to organize a gathering for the class.
3. We will be having Sports Day at our school.

4. We will be playing a basketball game against Class 6 on April 12.

4.2 The preposition “against” indicates the opposing team, often used with verbs like “play” or “fight.”
4.3 “Be against (doing) sth.” means to oppose or disagree with something.

“Come after” refers to the sequence of months following one another.
“Come before” refers to the sequence of months preceding one another.

1.1 “Make the present for sb.” means to create a gift for someone.
1.2 “A birthday present” refers to a gift given on someone’s birthday.
2. My grandfather tends to forget his birthday every year.
2.1 “Forget sth.” means to fail to remember something or someone.
2.2 “Forget to do” means to fail to remember to perform an action. (Uncompleted action)
“Forget doing” means to fail to remember that an action has already been done. (Completed action)
The light in the office is still on. He forgot to turn it off.办公室的灯还在亮着,他忘记关了。(没有做关灯的动作)
He forgot turning the light off.

3.1 “Maybe” is an adverb that means “也许” or “大概.”
3.2 “Need to do” means to require performing a task.
“Need” as a behavioral verb exhibits subject-verb agreement and can be followed by a noun, pronoun, gerund, or an infinitive with “to”. It can be used in affirmative, interrogative, and negative sentences.
4. How many days are there in a month?
一个月中有多少天?

4.1 “How many” is used to ask about the quantity of countable nouns.
4.2 English does not use the comma punctuation mark.
4.3 “The rest” refers to the remaining or leftover items. If it refers to countable nouns, the verb in the predicate should be in the plural form; if it refers to uncountable nouns, the verb should be in the singular form.
4.4 “A leap year” refers to a year with an extra day.
4.5 January一月,February二月,March三月,April四月,May五月,June六月,July七月,August八月,September九月,October十月,November十一月,December十二月。
5. When you convert a cardinal number to an ordinal number, you can simply add “th.”
But there are instances when “th” does not apply.
